Ian Hildebrand
I have been working extensively in the
music industry since the 1970s.
As well as being a performing musician those
many years, I have also been
a professional teaching guitar.
I have taught hundreds of students, of different ages, different abilities
and in many styles.
When I got my first guitar my mother
insisted I learn Classical Guitar. While this is a fantastic thing to
develop great technique, I would have to say it was listening and
playing along with the radio that really taught me to hear and work out
songs, which is basically ear training.
As well as study in classical, I later attended the Sydney Conservatorium of music and received an Assoc. Dip. In
Jazz Studies.
Professional instruction is invaluable in
learning how to play a musical instrument. An understanding of music is
also important and I
love to help people play guitar by passing on what I have learned!
